Don't buy from this company June 9, 2010 Gatsby (Scotia, NY) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This gps worked well for 2 yrs. This year it wouldn't sync with the computer. It has been sent back twice (starting in April) and I still don't have it working (June). Customer service and support is abominable from this company. I suggest trying a different company.
unfriendly skies April 26, 2010 T. C. Boice (Reno) If my battery is not charged over half, the distances are inaccurate. Also, the software is not at all intuitive; in fact, I find it downright unfriendly. I have had this thing for three years and I will not renew with Sky Caddie. I will go buy something else.
Love it April 17, 2010 Timothy P. Seegel I have had my Sky Caddie for Three years and bought thru Amazon.I love it. I have not had trouble with the connecting devise and have been using it daily in season. The range finder is pretty close, and sometimes are right on and the markers in the course are wrong. Besides the annual fee, I love the SG4. I have up-graged to more features this year. The company has also fixed a few glitches in the system, and also gave a couple of months for the inconvenience. I now but the SG4 for a grand prize for the outings I do. GET ONE, you will like it too......Tim Seegel
SG4 Connector March 26, 2010 KF (Cambridge UK) Skycaddie SG4
A great piece of kit and would have a 5 star if it were not for the connector.
However, all is not lost if you are just a little bit handy.
You will only need a drill bit the size of the shoulder on the attachment screw (6mm).
First remove the screw from the connector (it will screw completely out with a gentle pulling) and then very very very carefully countersink the hole in the back of the connector to the depth of the shoulder of the screw (about 1.5mm). Keep trying for depth after a little way rather than trying to drill it in one. Now the screw will go that extra distance to fix it securely to the back of the device. Simples!!!! And much quicker than sending it back - 5 minutes tops including looking for the drill bit. For those not too skilled with an electric drill try to put it on a slow setting.
But the risk is yours.
Biggest waste of money ever November 30, 2009 S. Wicker (Portland, OR USA) I've owned the SkyCaddie SG4 for 2 years now. I hate it. Worst computer/user interface ever. It's as if it was programmed using the same technology as the Commador 64. Need to remove battery everytime I start it up otherwise it won't find a signal. Doesn't work on cloudy days. Don't understand why it take the SkyCaddie 15+ minutes to locate my position when my iPhone can do it in couple seconds. Find another brand or if you have an iPhone, download an app for a one time charge of $30 versus the $30 annual fee to use this doorstop of a gadget
