Nikon Buckmasters 3-9x40 mm BDC Riflescope, Black Matte

Amazon.com Product Description
The brightest in its class, the Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 riflescope has a proven track record of reliability, durability, and precision, making it a true hunter's workhorse. The scope is at home on any hunting rifle, muzzle loader, or even rimfire, with such features as a rugged 1-inch main body tube, Nikon's Brightvue multicoating lens system for up to 92 percent light transmission, a bullet drop compensating (BDC) reticle for easy holdover out to 600 yards (magnum calibers), and ultra-high-performance lenses. The BDC reticle is perhaps the most compelling feature, as its trajectory-compensating system is designed and calibrated to provide fast, simple aiming points for various shot distances. The unique system integrates a series of small "ballistic circles" to produce an unobstructed view of the target.

The scope's high-performance lenses, meanwhile, are coated with multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds. The compounds serve to boost light transmission, improve contrast (to pull game out of its surroundings), deliver true color rendition and flare-free viewing, and enhance the overall image quality. And the Buckmaster 3-9x40 is ready for years of reliable service thanks to its 100 percent waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof housing. Other details include 1/4-minute hand-turn reticle adjustments, sunshade adaptability, and a Nikon lifetime warranty. Technical specs are as follows: Actual magnification: 3x to 9x; objective diameter: 40 mm; exit pupil: 13.3 to 4.4 mm; eye relief: 3.6 inches; field of view at 100 yards: 35.7 to 11.9 feet; tube diameter: 1 inch; adjustment graduation: 1/4 MOA; maximum internal adjustment: 80 MOA; parallax setting: 100 yards; length: 13.1 inches; weight: 16.1 ounces.

5 out of 5 stars most scope for the money   February 17, 2010

I purchased the buckmaster bdc 3-9x40 for a new remington model 700 sps 30-06 and just love it. The optics are crystal clear. This scope has the quality of a $300 to $400 scope. It took less than 1 box of shells to achieve 1" grouping at 100 yards. I would definitely reccommend the nikon.

5 out of 5 stars Nikon Buckmaster 3.9X40 BDC   February 10, 2010

I mounted this 3-9X40 with the BDC on my Remington 7mm using Tully one piece base/ring mounts. Very nice optic and great price here on Amazon. After sighting in I wish I jumped up to a bit higher magnification for using it with a magnum rifle. The BDC is suppose to be sighted in at 200 for it to work the way it should. However with a 3-9 magnification it can be a bit tricky to get it spot on and then consistently placing your shots at 300+ with only a 3-9 can be a little tough. It's definitely a quality scope for the price though.

5 out of 5 stars Great Price - Bright Field of View   January 12, 2010

I recently purchased this product for my new Weatherby Vanguard 30-06. I am a long-time open sight shooter - calibers 22 through 30-06. As an 'old man', I am a newbie when it comes to hunting with a scope. Needless to say, I did a lot of investigating. I eventually decided on a Nikon scope with a BDC reticle.

A note on scope brightness: The greater the transmitted light, the brighter the scope (and the greater the expense!). The Nikon 3-9x40 Buckmaster transmits 92% of gathered light compared to 90% of other models. The Amazon price point on this bright scope made the increased cost negligible (within $10 of similar Nikon scopes).

I have range-tested this scope an sighted it in at 100 yards with my Weatherby. What a bright scope! I shot 4-5 round groups all between 1-1.5" MOA and could see the target impacts as well as the spotter.

5 out of 5 stars Great Scope !!   January 7, 2010

This scope is a great buy. The BDC works as advertised. I have had more expensive scopes that weren't as clear as the Buckmaster.

5 out of 5 stars Nikon Buckmaster BDC the GREAT scope!   June 30, 2008

The new BDC or bullet drop compensator makes this riflescope the BEST value in the 200 dollar range for a 3x9 40mm type scope. Other scopes such as the Bushnell have the same or better optics in this price range but the BDC makes this scope the best choice for a one shot kill! No more missed shots due to lack of bullet drop compensation. The drop calculation is already there on the optical picture so you just select the detent for the range you are shooting and then GO. I'm zeroing in my 30-06 remington 770 (new improved version) in at 200 yards on crosshairs with a 150 grain bullet load at about 3000 fps punch and that ought to give me a really good long range rifle!h This after boresighting with a laser kit.
