Great product July 27, 2010 Willis K I Ordered this a couple weeks ago and love it. It only has two buttons so it is extremely simple to use and works flawlessly. The pinseeker mode is what I use all the time (compared to scan mode) because you know exactly when the pin is locked in. The only time this mode doesn't work very well is when you have to look at the pin through or close to trees in the foreground. This is because pinseeker mode gives you the closest object that the laser hits and locks onto that number. I haven't been able to compare this to other devices but I would definitely get a bushnell device with penseeker mode.
Pros:
-Pinseeker mode
-speed (acquires target in a fraction of a second)
-7x zoom makes everything very easy to see
-waterproof (haven't tested this but could come save this device one day)
-ease of use (point and shoot. Done)
-Size (bigger than others, fits great in two hands)
Cons:
-price compared to other busnell devices (you have to decide if the 7x zoom and waterproofing are worth it to you)
-size (the bigger size could be a con for some people)
Exactly what we expected. July 19, 2010 Susan E Abrahamson Extremely happy with the rangefinder. Works exactly as expected. Easy! Nothing to program and great for finding intermediate distances. Highly recommend this product. Great price from Amazon!
Know what to hit!!!!! July 10, 2010 delo609 This tool is amazing. Everyone should have one if you want to play better golf and speed up play. I always liked the idea of playing golf by feel, but not being able to play all that much anymore or know a course very well will leave one stranded and crying for help. I hated hitting a good shot only to have misjudged club selection by one or two clubs. This has helped my son and me so much--not only getting on the green and playing the pin, but also on the tee--knowing where to land your shot or what target to shoot for. Often I would put my driver back in the bag only to get a club with less distance so that I could have a chance at a better second shot. Becuase of the Range finder, I could tell where trouble lay by sighting in landing areas or where my ball might roll through the fairway. There are many "Oh Mannnn.....!" exclamations in golf so why not have a few, "Yeah baby!" thoughts? This thing helped in lowering our scores and also made the par threes a hoot to play.
Another way to use this thing is to: hit, get to your ball and take a reading to where you hit from (hopefully a ball washer or sign to site in) to see what distance you hit that club. It's actually so accurate that if you're steady enough you can site it on a ball in the fairway. In windy conditions it can be pretty hard to site in on a whipping pin especially when your arms aren't all that steady. It might take a few tries, but it can be done. Make sure you take a few readings and kinda know where you are hitting from. I made the mistake once of giving my friend a report on distance only to be off by 30 yards (got the bushes behind the pin).
Don't know what all the fuss was about the battery compartment. Haven't had a single issue with it. Stoked about the waterproof part and that's why I paid more for the 1600. We're not ones to leave the course because of a little rain. Love the 7X magnification = scoping out green for better shot placement! Hard to see with the naked eye how some greens slope so this helps in that arena as well.
Would highly recommend this thing. A bit bulky, but still easy to sling on your bag.
Great gift for a golfer May 17, 2010 K. Carswell 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
First, let me say that I'm not a golfer myself so I can't speak for how well the rangefinder works. However, as a gift for a golfer, it was a huge hit. Since the recipient is also a hunter, he says he will use it there as well. The rangefinder comes with a case that is bright orange which will make it easy to locate if accidentally left somewhere.

I wished I would have had this back when I was playing in Amateur Tournaments. On average this rangefinder cuts 2 - 5 strokes off an 18 hole round. Great product!
