Easy to use, images clear.Took a little time to get used to panning features and their distances.distances appear to be accurate, have to make a detailed study of sprinkler head and Skycaddie distances against rangefinder.Strong and sturdy product.Look forward to greater useage.Do not use it all the time, mainly for shots round 150 and 100yrds to assist in club selection.
Golf rangefinder March 7, 2010 James F. Gemza (New Hartford, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a very easy golf rangefinder to use and operate. It is conveniently small to be placed in any size golf bag and seems accurate to handle any club distances. Leupold means quality and anyone would be happy with this unit to make the golfing experience more enjoyable on any golf course.
This is a great find, compact, lightweight & accurate. February 9, 2010 C. Malone (GA) I can't say enought about this rangefinder, it is absolutely awesome. I researched several different models and settled on the GX-1 because it is tournament legal. I have previously been using the SkyCaddie and although I never have had any major problems with it, it sometimes would lose the signal and would be slow picking up the course again. I also decided I am tired of paying a yearly fee of $50 for the downloading capabilities of SkyCaddie.
The GX-1 is much smaller than the Bushnell 1600 and I was able to pick up this one on Amazon for $219 with free shipping. At that price this is a no brainer. The only thing the Bushnell outshines the GX-1 on is it is a 7X magnification vs. a 6X mag for the GX-1. Other than that, this unit is as good as it gets. I give it a 5 star rating and highly recommend it to everyone.
Back to the bag February 3, 2010 Darrell A. Johnson (FOREST PARK, GA, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you dont read anything else "Buy this product." The GX-1 is all I hoped it would be. My son is thirteen and is trying to break into the 70s. This product will get him there this spring I am sure. We also take it to an open area and set up our own driving range, the GX-1 makes it easy to get an accurate measurement. "Lets see you do that with a Sky Caddy." On the golf course it is lightning fast and the scan is great. This was a Christmas gift for my son "that I use as well." Due to all the rain I have only used it three times on the course. I found that my golf buddies would wait for me to give the distance on almost every shot. We all found ourself going "back to the bag" to get a different club after the GX-1 let us know the true distance. In short I will not plan to play golf again without this product. You can attack the pin not just go for the green with this thing. The only bad thing is that the GX-2 is the same price and does alot more. However it is not legal for tourn. play and I plan for my son to go far in golf and play in many tournments. I hope this thing will give him an edge on the competition or at least level the field.
Outstanding compact rangefinder January 7, 2010 Jonny (LENOX, MA, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Leupold GX-1 is my best golf purchase of the year - worth about three strokes on an unfamiliar course, because it makes club/shot selection so accurate. It's light and compact so it hangs easily from one of the golfbag's carry straps. It is intuitive and easy to use - click once to turn it on and again when you're looking at your target, and it goes in and out of its provided case quickly and easily. I occasionally get a questionable reading, but "scan" mode quickly separates the pin from the background. It's much easier to use and read than the comparable Bushnell, no easier than the comparable Nikon/Callaway but much smaller and lighter.
