Editorial Review
Kids can get rid of some excess energy with this air-powered outdoor rocket toy. No battery or fuel is needed to get the rockets airborne--just some old-fashioned stomping power. Set up the simple launch stand in a clear outdoor area, connect the 38-inch-long vinyl air hose and blast pad, load one of the 9-inch yellow foam rockets--and watch out. Our 5-year-old assistant reviewer really got a kick out of jumping on the purple blast-off pad and watching her rockets soar 50 feet or more, though she had to fight the adults for a turn. If the three rockets included with the kit aren't enough fun, you can order stomp parachutes and spin copters from the manufacturer. --Marianne Painter

5 out of 5 stars My 3 year old can't stop playing with it   February 12, 2010
L. White (Colorado Springs, CO)
My just-turned-3-year-old son opened the Jr. Stomp Rocket last night. Since it said it could shoot up to 100 ft. I figured it would be best set up outside. However, it was snowy and dark. He really wanted to open it and look at it. I set it up in about 1 minute. Then I figured, since he's only 3 and the rockets are soft, maybe he could try it in the house. He LOVED it. I didn't think he'd have enough force to stomp it, but he can shoot it about 30 feet all by himself. He can also reload it by himself. I love that he can be successful and play with it independently. He played with it for about 25 min. straight before bed, then before breakfast this morning, wanted to eat with the rockets near him at breakfast, played with it after breakfast, then it was the only thing he and his little buddy played with during their 2 hour play date, then again after his nap. I ended up confiscating it since he whacked his 1 year old sister with the hose. You'd think it was a fate worse than death! He wanted to eat dinner with the box next to him so he could look at the pictures. Who knows how much longer he would have played with it? I don't mind. It's silent, it's safe, he doesn't need my help, and he is active as he chases and reloads. The only time he needs help is if it gets stuck on top of our armoire. Fun that the rockets glow in the dark and that there are 4 of them (he and his friend alternated turns and could keep the action going while the rockets were being fetched). The person who gave this to us warned us that the non-junior version go pretty high and get stuck in trees and on roof tops. So, if we play with this outside, I guess we'll go to a parking lot or big field and not do it around our home. We couldn't find the nut that secures the hose to the stand and the screw eventually works its way out. I'm sure we can get a replacement for a few cents at a hardware store. However, my son and his buddy figured out that they didn't need to use the stand. They could hold the hose in their hands and aim it where they wanted it (into the next room). They didn't mind at all and it probably makes it even more accurate. The insert said you can go to the company (D & L Company) website for lesson plans. Apparently, this is a popular product with teachers. I'll have to check that out and see if I can teach my son a little science as he plays if they are simple enough concepts. What a great toy and SO affordable. I'm going to order some as gifts.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome toy, simple fun   February 10, 2010
Beth (New York)
My two year old LOVES the stomp rocket. He got it for a birthday present, and we recently purchased this one for a gift for a friend of his (also 2 yrs). It is a very simple concept, easy for them to master, and doesn't have a lot of parts. We don't use the "stand" for it, we just put the rocket on the end of the hose and he stomps away. My 5 year old nephew has had one of his own for a few years and has a blast with it, too.

3 out of 5 stars Fun for my grandson   February 10, 2010

This was chosen from my grandson's wish list. He likes it but it's rather flimsy. The base comes apart easily.

5 out of 5 stars Great fun   February 9, 2010
C Dawg (Atlanta, GA)
Great fun awesome purchase. My four year old and his friends love playing with this. It's put together fairly well, though the tripod mount slips apart pretty easily at times. Only problem we've had is keeping the dog from chasing and catching the rockets, already got two of them. Recommend buying the extra pack of rockets at the same time.

4 out of 5 stars Stomp Rocket Jr. Glow   February 5, 2010
D. Butterfield (Bountiful, UT USA)
My son got this for Christmas, he is 5, and he just loves it! The hardest part, is getting his twin big brothers age 9, to let him have a turn on his own toy! Even his little sister, who is 2, has figured out how to aim and then launch the rockets, just by sitting fast, onto the launch pad. I love this toy, because even when it is cold and snowy outside, the kids can still play with it INSIDE the house, and because of the soft foam rockets, you don't have to worry about them breaking anything. This will keep them busy for hours, and I love to hear their laughter! It just cracks me up!
