Brunton Spork May 3, 2010 D. Lunde (Aurora, CO USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had looked at several titanium sporks before deciding on the Brunton. Let's look at the good things first. It's light weight, and a great size for getting into the bottom of containers. The fork tines are very sharp and work exceptionally well without being obtrusive in the mouth. The spoon bowl is the right size and well shaped and the polish does make it a bit easier to clean. The small clip/bottle opener is a great idea and what won me over to the Brunton design, I just wish it were better implemented. That brings me to the not so good things. The clip on the end works great as a bottle opener, not so great as a clip. The wire gate is very easily dislodged and you end up with a spork on the ground in one place and the wire gate on the ground in another place, so it's best considered a bottle opener and nothing else. The tines are very sharp, so you need to be careful with this around your clothes and your skin. Pants pocket carry is definitely not recommended.
Its a Titanium spork, what else is there to say? March 23, 2010 J. Lewis (LAKE WORTH, FL, US) Bought this for a lightweight backpacking trip in June. The only thing Im expecting from this spork is for it to hold food prior to entering my mouth! Externally this thing is flawless. Polished lower portion, with a sand blasted stem. The spring may not be spring loaded, but it does rebound after being depressed. For those that care about length, its just short of six and a half inches.
My-ti-spork-opener November 20, 2009 A. Young (Hoschton, GA United States) I used to think titanium utensils were silly, but having used some plastic alternatives, I've changed my mind. There's something much more civilized and enduring about metal (like, it won't melt if left in a pot while cooking). This is a competitively priced titanium spork with an added bottle opener feature (which is why I picked it and not one of the others). The wire gate on the bottle opener fell off several times before I eventually gave up on using it. Don't expect to store this clipped to the outside of your pack or similarly. I like the polished finish on the working end. It's easy to lick clean ;) I use mine daily while dorm-camping at college. The bottle opener works fine provided you are coordinated enough to use it. If I could improve on the design, it would be to get rid of the cutout in the handle where it narrows and abandon the clip. The cutout doesn't save significant weight and it can be hard to clean inside the slot (unfortunately this is a common "feature") if you get stuff in there while mixing your dinner. Still, I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to friends.
Specs: It weighs 15 grams and is 6.5" long.
Sporktastic! November 3, 2009 Blake M. Morillas (Chico, CA USA) As dorky as this sounds I wanted to go green at work. So instead of buying a fork-spoon set I decided to go with what I knew would work. . . a Titanium Spork!!!
This thing rocks!! It's a spoon, it's a fork, and best yet there is a bottle opener on the other end!!!!!!!
Because of this item, I am the envy of the breakroom :-)
LEFT HANDERS BEWARE October 23, 2009 E. Harjes 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Really great item with one MAJOR flaw! BAD FOR LEFT HANDERS! My thumb always hits into the the clip and the clip snaps off. Luckily can just put it back on, but still annoying and makes for an awkward hold. Perfect for right-handers, not so much for lefties!!
